“Why do we fall Master Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up again.”
Alfred, from Batman Begins
It’s been an up and down month but mostly it has been great. I have been getting to explore more of the beautiful cycling territory surrounding Banyoles as well as improving my body strength training and reducing my cycling body weight towards the end target of approx 72kg.
In April I welcomed my Ironman triathlete and fellow plant based athlete friend David Deak over to Banyoles for 2 weeks where we each managed to get our training carried out and also spend some good time in the kitchen preparing some supercharged smoothies and other tasty meals!
By end April, I was firmly in the groove of daily training and all going well before I ended up in a biking accident that has put my current training on hold for last 7 days. On the one hand, I am very annoyed at missing training and now being in danger of missing my first race of the season – the Melfar 24 hour race in Denmark on 2 June. On the other hand, as my physios and doctors have told me, I must be a charmed soul to still be here today and capable of returning to training soon given the heavy impact I suffered and being unconscious on road for extended period before being revived in an ambulance.
On balance, I’ll accept the whiplash and sore bruised body pains. Onwards we go – here’s hoping for a smoother ride to end of 2012!
